Would you date someone that has an addiction to pain pills?

Like if when you first got together they said they were clean and didn't do anything, but months down the road after you've fallen in love then the truth comes out that they were just ''trying'' to stay off of them and get clean but every now and then like once or twice a month would slip up and do a pill. But other than that they treat you like gold.

Considering I have access to highly regulated and not regulated and everything in between drugs hell no. I will not risk my licence to practice medicine over someone else's addiction. Also, an addict is not someone I'd want to have a serious relationship with.  Want someone reliable, honest and a professional that can hold a job. I want someone I am depend on to be there for me- and someone who's addicted puts their addiction before anything else. I'm not going to deal with that.

Before I started dating my boyfriend we were really good friends and he was really into drugs he's done almost everything, but pain pills were his favourite for some reason. although it's not impossible to get off of pain pills, like any other drug the person as to WANT to stop you can't force them. When we first dating he was in the process of getting clean and I told him up front that if he touched anything that wasn't prescribed to him or weed than I wouldn't be with me him and I guess that gave him more motivation to stop 😊 but I was always there to support him when he felt like he couldn't do it. We've been dating for 3 years now and he's doing great. we actually had a convo a few days ago about this, if he were to ever be prescribed any pain killers or any hard core drugs than I would be the keeper of them so basically I would only give him a few a day and keep the bottle on me or somewhere locked up.

I lost a really good friend to an heroin overdose, he was the sweetest guy I have ever met. I didn't even know that he was doing drugs like that until the day that I heard that he died. When he passed away it made my depression really bad: The thing is with drugs it controls you. If your boyfriend is addiction to pain pills, he may want something stronger down the line. I had a man in my life that I looked up to it like a dad and he started taking pain pills when he broke his leg, pain pills didn't cut it for him so he started using heroin and he has not stopped. He has gone to rehab over and over and over again and he will not stop because he is that addicted to it. When you love somebody with an addiction it's hard to let them go all you want to do is help them but they have to be able to help theirselves. All you can do is pray for him and encourage him to get help and if he doesn't want help then you need to end it. Being with somebody with an addiction and they're not stopping it would end up killing you because you can't save someone that does not want to be saved. I'm praying for you both. stay strong: ❤️

Nope. Been down that road. But worse. And you can't help someone that doesn't want help. That type of "relationship" just sucks you in a black hole. Just my experience. I'd stay far away if I were you. I know he loved me, but definitely should of listened to other people and stayed away.

I got with my husband when he was addicted to pain pills and xanax.... he almost killed me 3 times and stabbed himself in the chest which lead to my miscarriage... please be careful. Thank god he is drug free but it took 5 long years, 4 near divorces..

So i am with someone that battles addiction on a daily basis it doesnt just go away. Hes done some unspeakable things to me and his family but he has completely changed but its still there in the back of his mind every day. He is tge best father and husband lover and best friend a woman can ask for. Loving an addict isnt for tge faint of hearts thats for sure and you have to know when to pull the plug. They are manipulative and they have a tendency to lean towards lying and hiding the truth. But with the right person that is strong hearted loving not a push over and willing to sacrifice alot for the ones you love it can be worth it.... P s you have to remember that you can not help soneone unless they want to help themselves
