A little confused ?

I stood in the chemist today and read all packaging on the pregnancy test. Most of these stated that they are able to be taken 6 days prior to your expected period & they are still 99%. After reading through so many posts on here, there are a lot of women who don't get a positive til after there period is due - should I not be testing til my period is actually late & save money on wasted pregnancy test?
