How long after vaginal delivery should you wait to go swimming?

I gave birth 2 weeks ago. I only have very minimal bleeding. How long do I need to wait to swim in a pool? Or is it better to just hold out until my 6 week appointment with my ob/gyn and get the OK?

I was told not until 6 weeks because even though you may not be bleeding your cervix takes about 6 weeks to close. I wouldn't want to risk an infection. But I'd call your doctor to be safe!

Talk to OB they need to clear you. I know with tattoos you aren't supposed to submerge them in water in fear of bacterial infections. This might be the same for postpartum.

If you had any stitches it would be best to wait until you see your OB. Or call and ask them. I wouldn't go swimming until they told me it's okay

I would wait a week after bleeding completely stops. Mine slowed down and then would start again, especially if I went for a walk.

I stopped bleeding two weeks after and went swimming. As long as your not bleeding its fine
