What are the pros and cons of an epidural?

Pro - no pain 
Con - delays labor

I had one and have no complaints. I was absolutely miserable until I had the epidural, and once I got it, couldn't feel any contractions or even the pushing.
We had no issues with it slowing down the labor as some people mentioned - mine moved pretty quickly. Having the catheter really wasn't bad either. I was pretty numb though (it took a while to wear off). I couldn't really walk on my own after but that didn't bother me. Totally worth it, at least in my experience!

From what I've seen:
 Pros - pain relief, calms you down, allows you to rest
Cons - can slow down labor, can't move around, catheter, possible back pain

I had one with my first and I likely will again. Pros for me were being able to relax for a few hours before the baby was born. my contractions were 1 min apart from 5cm on so it was more intense then I was expecting. Of course lack of pain was great. I was able to get up and move around soon after the Cath was taken out I don't think it effected my recovery at all. Cons...having a catheter and not being able to move around once it was in I didn't like that much. Once it was time to push I coudlnt feel anything and it took a while but once they turned it off and it wore off a little I was able to push effectively and was holding my baby my minutes after.

I had zero cons with mine. I could push fine, I was walking within the hour after birth, and I got to actually enjoy my labor and was talking and laughing while I was pushing. I will always get the epidural

i've had a birth with one, and one without. 
with my first son, my epidural did help ease contraction pains, but i was NOT completely numb. i could still feel a large amount of pain. my whole right leg went numb and kept falling off the bed and people had to put it back on for me lol.. i could not feel my contractions whatsoever, so i had to be told when to push and it didn't feel natural at all. i pushed for over 2 hours.
with my second, no epidural. yes it was painful, but i was much more in tune with my body and my instincts took over. i knew when to push, baby was out in 2 pushes. i didn't have to wait to regain feeling anywhere like i had to with the epidural when my leg was numb. 
i had my epidural over 4 years ago, and i still get pain in my back sometimes around the epidural site.. maybe coincidence, maybe not.
so, those are my experiences with epidurals

this is my first pregancy and def planning on getting one 
pros is you don't feel contractions. you can sleep. no pain etc. pushing isn't as bad too
cons I've heard it can slow down labor 
I've heard u can push too hard and tear more if u don't feel the pain 
I've heard u can get yeast infections 
longer recovery. can't just get up and walk around after birth 
worth it in my opinion!
