When to start trying???

Question

My husband and I have been married for a month today and we have "the talk" almost daily about when we want to start trying to conceive. I'm 32 and he is 30, so I personally feel the pressure to start now because we do want more than 1 kid. I'm also torn because I want us to have "our time" together....be able to travel, be a young couple together, have it just be me and him for a while, save up some money. BUT, I also want to have his baby so badly....I honestly change my mind daily, if not hourly. He says its up to me because im the one who will be pregnant and having to deal with majority of the chanhes. Any advice?

I have never used birth control, ever. Since I became sexually active I have always tracked my periods/ovulation so I'm pretty in tune with my body. Not that any of that means we would be able to get pregnant immediately if we decided...just wanted to add that info.

My best advice is just to enjoy your first year of marriage, without "trying" but not preventing. And if it happens, it was meant to be. Enjoy sex, and travel and if it happens it will be a blessing. I'm 32 and been trying over a year and a half. My DH and I have been married 3 years, and together 7. If I would have known it was going to take this long "trying" I would have stopped preventing as soon as we got married. It takes even the most healthy couples up to a year to get pregnant. I would start sooner rather than later. It takes longer than people think, especially if you hit road bumps like we did! There is a greater risk with pregnancies over the age of 35 so if you're honking of having more than one you want to give yourself time for that. And don't worry about the savings, you could save and save and save and never have enough! You make do with what you have and the family and friends around will help!! 💙

I got married at 31 and we had our first child 2 days after my 35th birthday. He is now 19 months and we have been trying for #2.  Although my husband and I have been together for 10 years, marriage for us had financial changes (we got joint accounts), we relocated to another state across the country, we adopted 2 pet kids (dog and a cat), and we dealt with the changes that were thrown at us. I eventually got  a job up here too, we bought cars, a house and  hosted family. I regret not having a honeymoon and traveling more.
I would say make a plan, look at your finances, do a trip together, and tie up any lose ends (like repairs, upgrade, or a major purchase)  and after a year,  go for it. Especially if its your first time joining finances.

I'm 30 and have been with my husband since 2011 (married since 2016). My OBGYN said you do need to get started before 35 and it takes most women 6 months if not a year (or years...) to actually conceive. My advice would be to get started because it's taken me 6 months already and I was told with my underlying conditions and diagnosis that it could take a year from now. You are decreasing your chances unfortunately but my doctor said she does deliver plenty of babies from women in their 40s. That said, it can be more difficult and costly (fertility treatments). My advice would be to get checked by an obgyn who will make sure you are good to go for pregnancy and if you are enjoy your time with your husband for 6 months but prepare your body for pregnancy during that time. Do away with BC and start using condoms, going off certain medications that interfere with pregnancy and conception (under the care of a physician of course), and give yourself a starting point. You can always get a sitter, travel with your kids, or travel when they are older without them. My parents always took their own vacations. Don't feel like you can't do that after having kids! My husband and I got married just over a year ago and have just started to TTC.  We decided that there some things that we wanted to experience as a couple, and kid free before we actively started our journey such as a trip to Greece! As far as financially, I think it's wise to make sure your debts are under control, but I don't think you can ever truly be "ready" in that department lol! Even though your partner is leaving the choice up to you I would discuss the things both of you would like to do while it's still just the two of you and make a time table based on making those things happen.

I was married at 32 and started immediately...I'm 37 now and no baby. Soo... I would start now. It may happen right away but it may not. Maybe just don't prevent it but don't actively try either for maybe a year.
