IVF experiences?

Question

I'm considering doing IVF but I'm a little scared. Was it really hard? How were the hormones? Love to hear experiences from folks who are going/have been through it. Thanks!

I went threw 4 cycles of IVF. You will definitely need a friend or close family member that's not your SO to vent to. The injections aren't too bad to get used to. Menapur burned but that was the worst. The HCG trigger shot wasn't too bad. The mood swings however hubby called me dr jekel and mrs Hyde lol. like pms on crack. My first egg retrieval was not great my pain meds didn't take so I felt it all. I spoke up and my next retrieval was better. I am now 11 weeks 6 days with twins. For this pregnancy I had to take IM injections of progesterone for 13 weeks    That took a toll on my poor thighs.   Good luck !! The end result is worth it ❤️❤️

It's hard. I'm starting my 3rd cycle. I have severely diminished ovarian reserve, so I don't respond well to the stims.  It's taking some time to find a protocol that works for me. When we first started, I didn't know how many appointments I would have- that really surprised me. Once you start stims it's dr appointments basically every other day... towards the end sometimes every day! As for the shots, I HATE hate hate hate needles... and it's not that bad. I do my own. I won't  lie- the mood swings can be intense. But, you'll learn which meds really affect you. For me, the worst are clomid and progesterone. Those two make me very moody. But the rest of the drugs don't really bother me.  So, yes it's hard. It's emotionally, financially, and physically hard.  But even so, I'm glad I'm doing it. (And I'll be even happier if it actually works some day!)

Very hard! Preparing yourself mentally is probably the hardest part.  You and your SO will get even closer than you can imagine.  Getting shots daily is no fun, and the ups and downs of it can be mentally draining.  Lots of doctors appts which can be tough with work, too. Just being honest. 😊 We do it for the baby!!!
