Scarred!
When I went backpacking in Asia, I worried about getting my period and if there was availability of pads and tampons. I opted for the Diva Cup. I was in a monastery in a national forest in Thailand when I got my period. Putting in the Diva Cup was easy but taking it out was a nightmare! I was texting my bf how freaked out I was and how there was no way I could pull it out. In the middle of the night I contorted my body to hold my legs up to try to yank it out to no avail. I told myself unless it was an emergency, I'd tell one of the sisters I needed help. After 14 hrs had passed and thousands attempts up my vag, one of the laypeople offered to drive me an hour out of the way to the nearest hospital! I tried to explain what a Diva Cup was to the Thai doctor but of course she had no clue. There were 2 other nurses with masks on that looked on with horror as my knees went up and as the doctor tried to use forceps with no success. Then she had to go in with her hand and after a few minutes a loud suctioning sound filled the room and a deluge of blood poured out :( the nurses looked so grossed out and the doctor immediately tossed my Diva Cup in the trash. She said that this never happened in Thailand before lol. I had to ask for the Diva Cup back to see if I'd ever feel comfortable to try t again. That day hasn't come and probably never will :( lol
