Is something wrong here?

Started work at a daycare a month ago. I am about to start my last semester toward my B.A in elem education so I wanted a ‘teaching’ job for experience. When I got there, the A.C was out a week already (mind you, I live in TX, the land of heat index 105* at 2 pm) and even now a month later, still not fixed. I work in a class of toddlers and infants where class is 80+ in the room all day. A kid had a seizure at nap time due to a high fever a few days ago that I half think is heat related. Also, two weeks ago I was sick (like 100* classic sick) and they told me I had no choice but to work around infants and toddlers like this where my job requires close contact to care for them because they had no one to cover me. And, coincidence, kids got sick a week later. Then yesterday, my mom calls saying my son was sick 101*, not eating, etc. and they told me that if I left, basically to stay home because they need to get everyone else out to prevent overtime and that they had no one who could cover me. I am now looking for elsewhere to work but is there any legal issues wrong with this?
