would it be weird for both my sons to have their father's middle name?

Question

My husband has a son from a previous relationship (i love that boy to pieces).
his middle name has been passed on for three generations. 
his son already has the passed down middle name. 
would it be weird for us to also pass that middle name down to OUR own future son as well?

My dads brother and sister all have the same middle name. Brenda Lee Brian Lee and Brandon Lee. I don't think there's anything wrong with giving your children the same middle name

Nah it's not weird. I am not personally a huge fan of naming kids after people but my husband's family also has the passed-down middle name thing and we are planning on doing that if we ever have a son (and we might even do it if our second and last baby is a girl anyway - the name is Thomas, not totally gender neutral but not insane for a girl). It will hardly ever come up in the real world and it's a cute tradition. It's not like the boys will have the same first name.

It's not weird at all! The middle name "Mitchell" is used in my husband's family... he, his brother, and his dad all have the same middle name.

In Filipino culture, the mother's maiden name is the child's middle name. So essentially all children have the same middle and last name.

No! My brother and I both have the same middle name (we are 15 mo. apart). My mom never took our dads last name, so our middle name is her last name!
