Doula - Doctor OK with it?

Has anyone run into their doctor and/or hospital having issues with a doula being present?

If your doctor has an issue with you having a doula then you definitely need a doula lol There are studies proving that a doulas presence improves birth outcomes so if your doctor doesn't want you to have an improved birth outcome then that tells me you really will need extra support in that hospital geez! 
It can all come down to bad experiences a doctor has had with a doula or doulas. Some doulas argue with doctors (which they shouldn't, it's not our job to do that) and some doulas really get in the way. That sucks and all but not all doulas are like that!

You should look into the hospital policy. Doulas are usually fine- but some have an agency they want you to hire from or a limit on the number of guests you can have during delivery.

If this is an issue you're experiencing ask why. Why is the care provider or hospital against continuous labor support? Why are they going against current research and guidelines? If I ran into this problem I would switch immediately.

Thanks for your responses! I checked with my doctor and she doesn't have any issue with me having a doula. I just wanted to be prepared for her response. My hospital is good with me having a doula as well. All that being said, we are all set and our doula will be there for the birth! Thanks again!
