side effects of birth control pills?

i'm debating whether or not to get on birth control pills. have you experienced any side effects?

Answer

I started day 1 of my period, and it went from 5 days to 7, followed by a week of breakthrough bleeding/spotting and another 2 week period. I was also very lethargic and short tempered for the first month and a half or so, but these symptoms subsided by that time. It can take up to 3 months for your body to adjust so be patient if things don't clear up right away. 
I started my 5th pack this week, and my skin is SO much clearer, my periods are much lighter and more predictable but still last about the same amount of time. Weight gain was minimal, mostly water retention but I've actually lost about 10 pounds this summer with diet and exercise. Hope that helped- sorry for the long post lol

I love the pill. No negative side effects and I have more control over my period (like skipping it) and lighter cramps
