The murder of Dee Dee

๐Ÿฆ‡

๐Ÿฆ‡๐“ก

So the other day I was watching this video on this case. It was truly interesting and I wanted to know what CC thought about this. I watch this Youtuber named Kendal Rae. She spreads a lot of awareness about missing children through her "Where Is" series, covers paranormal stuff, and covers murder cases. Her channel is extremely fascinating and I urge you to check her out.

Back on track. SO I'm just gonna kinda give an overview of this. If you want more detail check out her video or research the case.

Mother: Dee Dee

-Unemployed, caregiver to her daughter

-From an abusive home, no family support

-Abusive ex husband who's an absentee father

Daughter: Gypsy

-Has a TON of medical issues such as leukemia, sleep apnea, muscular dystrophy, brain damage, and more.

-Wheel chair bound and tube fed.

-Mentally younger than her age.

-"Home schooled"

They lived in a house that was built for them by Habitat for Humanity because they were Hurricane Katrina Survivors and Gypsy's medical records were lost in that as well. They collected and did a lot from charities like Make A Wish Foundation, Go Fund Me. Their friends and neighbors helped out A LOT.

All was fine until June 14th, 2015 when a post was made to their public Facebook page that said "That bitch is dead!" People assumed they had been hacked and started freaking out. It got worse when they commented and had this to say "I fucken slashed that fat pig and raped her sweet innocent daughter... Her screams were sooo fucken loud lol". After that the police were called and they found Dee Dee dead in the house. It was a terrible scene and she had been dead for a couple days. No Gypsy, though.

They traced the IP back to Nick. They found out that he was Gypsy's secret boyfriend who she met on a Christian dating website. When they found her, she didnt have any of her medical supplies she needed and she could walk perfectly. They ran tested and she was perfectly normal. Dee Dee lied about everything, even her age. Gypsy thought she was 19, but when her dad showed her birth certificate she was actually 23. They also found that her dad was involved. He paid child support and used to have visits. He wanted to be more involved, but Dee Dee wouldn't allow it. Dee Dee's legal name was actually Claudine Blanchard and she conned many charities and even her daughter. Her daughter only knew so much of this. She knew she could walk and that she was mentally capable, but didn't know anything else. She thought she was sick and took a shit ton of meds. She got away with a lot, even when Gypsy's tests were coming back negative. Dee Dee also abused Gypsy whenever she would slip up and say things she wasn't supposed to. She was made to think no one would believe her.

Later they found that Dee Dee was in trouble for writing bad checks and fraudulent behavior. She had five brothers and sisters. One sister claims Dee Dee had poisoned her food. They also claim that when Dee Dee was caring for their mother, she was starving her and caused her death. They were actually happy she died and wanted to throw her ashes in the toilet.

So back to the murder. At first Gypsy claimed no involvement while Nick was claiming she asked him to kill. Later she ended up admitting it and saying that she went into the bathroom, laid on the floor, and covered her ears. She heard her mom's screams and claims that while on Xanax she wasn't in her right mind and felt like she had no emotions

When Nicks family came in they found out that they mailed the murder weapon to Nick's house and Nick has autism.

Kendall asked a great question. Here you have an abuse victim, robbed of an education and an autistic boy. How can you hold either of them accountable? What do you think? What should happen to them? Its not the usual Bonnie and Clyde.

Gypsy was sentenced to 10 years and Nick's trial has yet to begin.

๐Ÿ˜ณ that story took a sharp turn. Idk how much prison would be appropriate for them. It seems like they and society would be better off if they were in a secured mental health facility.

I was so freaked out when it took that turn. ๐Ÿ˜‚ It was like "everything is fine. Now its all chaos and she's a liar". I think a mental health facility would be better than prison for sure.

There's a documentary about this called Mommy Dead and Dearest. Dee Dee was the worst kind of leach of a human being. I feel horrible for Gypsy Rose. Dee Dee was bound to have a tragic end to life based on how she lived. It's tragic that her daughter was the orchestrator, but her daughter really just saved herself from an abusive monster. I think her sentence was just. You can't take the law into your own hands.

I'm not sure how it works, but maybe it was a legal thing as to why she couldn't be institutionalized? I know they didn't want to plead not guilty by reason of insanity. Maybe because you'd have to prove you weren't mentally able to understand what you were doing, which she obviously did? I know in the Andrea Yates case, she plead that and ended up getting institutionalized, but idk if she's ever getting out of her facility? But I'm not a lawyer and I'm not sure how all that works. Just throwing it out there that maybe that's what happened. Gypsy claims she's much happier in prison than she was living with her mom, which is crazy to think about.

I feel like these situations take more understanding and deserve more understanding than most. While I agree that you can't take the law into your own hands, I don't think a prison sentence was appropriate for an abused, immature, uneducated girl. Maybe a mental health facility would've been more beneficial. Prison is cruel and unjust on anyone, not to mental this delayed girl.

Let's try this again:That 10 year sentence is probably way to long. If her mom did all that to Gypsy, then Gypsy probably suffers from a couple mental illnesses. Imagine someone telling you that you can't walk when you know full well you can? As well from all the "diagnoses" her mom may have had her on unneeded medications, possibly altering her ability to think through choices. No she does NOT deserve a sentence that long. Maybe 5 years at the most. Her mom took her life away and it's the only way she knew how to escape. If someone held me hostage like that i might do the same thing. Or any of y'all reading this.

I've never had Xanax but I've heard people do and feel weird shit on it. I was on a mood stabilizer when I was 15, almost 16 and that made me so emotionless and spacey. It was like my brain was gone. My friend told me that all I would do is sit there and play with my hair. I barely acknowledged her which isn't like me at all and I don't remember any of it.

When I took Xanax it made me feel almost completely emotionless... so I wouldnt doubt that she actually couldn't mentally consider and decide what to do. It was the easiest way out.

I LOVE Kendall Rae's channel. Especially her videos about missing people. This case is insane. There is a documentary on HBO called "Mommy Dead and Dearest".I agree with Kendall, on one hand, murder is obviously never okay. However, Gypsy was the victim of severe abuse. All of the medication she was on would have to have an impact on her brain. And she didn't have an education beyond kindergarten. It's easy to be like "she should have just left", but she was medicated and uneducated. She might not have known that was an option.I think the best possible outcome for Gypsy is what happened. She got 10 years, when originally she was facing the death penalty or life in prison. She'll get out in her 30's and still have a chance to live some of her life.

It was the case of Derrick Robie. You should have a look. Its an interesting case, but I don't agree with her views at all and I find them very ill informed.

I read this story in the news awhile back. It's unfathomable that a mother would ever use her daughter that way. I think Gypsy could see no way to get away from her mother than for her to be dead. And she used the autistic boy to do it. I remember reading she had had a secret internet bf for awhile but her mother ended that. Poor girl was completely controlled and felt she had no way out. It sounds like her dad really loved her but was a bit frightened away because of her supposed medical condition. I think if he would have tried a bit harder to build a relationship with her this could have ended a lot differently. It sad no matter how you look at it. But considering she is mentally sound she has to be punished by the law.

I live in Missouri where this happened and have some friends who had personally met them and worked with them through charitable organizations. People were terrified for Gypsy's safety while she was "missing" and sharing her photos to try to find her. It was all totally bizarre and a huge hit to people when the whole thing unraveled.

Didn't her dad and her stepmom not see her alone ever? I think the first time they saw her walk she was in court? Most of the doctors and their family said they never saw the child walk and were some voiced concern that she had symptoms that weren't consistent with the illnesses her mother said she had. The thing is a shit show. The kid is no way near every going to be a rational person, and her mom was fucking her over.

Yeah. Her mom kept her away from her dad because she was "too sick". I think by age 10 is when she was put in the wheelchair. I just dont see how they can hold her accountable. She's extremely uneducated, behind in her maturity thanks to her mother, abused, taking lord only knows how many medications her whole life. I mean, she was never in her right mind.

I love Kendall, i was on edge during the whole video! I feel bad for Gypsy, so bad ๐Ÿ˜” her life was destroyed. I think she should be in a hospital where she receives the care she needs.
