6 months - Birthday gift

I've been seeing someone for almost 6 months.

I want to get him something but I don't know what.

He likes video games (Xbox and PC), beer, he's pointed out some Starbucks cups he liked, he likes plaid, he has a truck, and he plays hockey.

He has the membership for Xbox live already and he told me a long time ago how people always him stuff for hockey because they know he likes it.

I still might get him something for hockey but I'm not sure. What are some good ideas for a gift?? We've only been dating for a short while so I don't want to go overboard. How much money is too much to spend?
