solids strike

I just started weaning my little boy from nursing last week...he turned 1 on the 28th. Before that, he was so excited to try new foods. For the past week though, it is almost like he is on strike and protesting being weaned! If he doesn't refuse to eat something, he will only take a few bites! I don't want to keep feeding him purées, but he has to eat something! Is anyone else having this problem?
