Thoughts on Drag

This is something I've been thinking about for a while and I'm curious to find out what others think, but I presume people could misunderstand me and just attack!

I don't agree with the concept of drag performers. Both male and female, but more specifically men that impersonate women for the purposes of entertainment. I am in no way talking about transgendered people or non-performing cross dressers.

My issue is that my gender is not a costume. To dress up and impersonate a woman on stage, they have not gone through what it's like to actually be a woman and the struggles associated with just simply existing as a woman. To me, it's the same principle as "blacking up". That is not acceptable anymore (not that it should have been in the first place) for very good reason! Someone's racial identity is not a costume.

Yes, I know I don't have to go and watch a drag performance, and I should just look away etc etc, but that's not the point. The point is what I've said before - my gender is not a costume.
