Medicinal Drugs...Can You Becomes Addicted?

Question

I’m having a debate on legal/illegal drugs and addiction. Do you believe that there are exceptions to which some drugs can be addictive and some cannot? I’m not asking if you agree or not with illegal drugs. I’m asking just the simple two questions above.

I don't think antibiotics are addictive and they are drugs. Not all drugs have an addictive quality, but one can become addicted or dependent on many drugs.

I think it's a fact that some drugs, regardless of their legality, carry a risk of addiction. 
A round of antibiotics? Probably not going to get addicted while others don't. Heroin, meth, prescription opioids? High risk of addiction.

Some drugs are physically and mentally addictive. Some are bit physically addictive but people can become mentally and emotionally dependent on them. Some drugs (like aspirin) are neither. Anything with mind altering effects can cause mental and emotional dependence/addiction. Some drugs that don't alter the mind can be addictive (laxatives for people with eating disorders) or believe it or not, nasal sprays are addictive. Depends on the person.

I actually work in prevention and in the area with the highest opioid use per capita in the country. Some drugs have chemical properties that make them more addictive: pain killers, xanax, and others. Some OTC drugs like Afrin are also addictive. It has to do not only with the chemical properties of the drug itself, but the individual person as well. Brain chemistry is tricky and complicated, and different people respond to different drugs in different ways. Some people just have more addictive personalities, some people have a genetic component. It's complicated and there is a lot involved. 
I'm not going to say you can't get addicted to a certain drug, just that there are some you are more likely to become addicted to.

Drugs that don't give you the "feel good feeling, don't increase heart rate, give you a rush, and so on aren't addictive. Most over the counter products. Advil, Tylenol, Motrin, or antibiotics, and so many more. But even things like caffeine can become addictive because of the effect it has on people.

Yep definitely! I've just weaned myself off some extremely nasty drugs after 9 years of being on them. I wasn't addicted to them but my body was. All prescription too! Took me a year to get off them safely!

I was prescribed Xanax at 14 (i don't go to that doctor anymore, Xanax didn't help me and it's not really for anyone under 18... from my knowledge now at least) and when I finally just stopped using it because I was tired of how it made me feel, I had some symptoms that could've been classified as a withdrawal symptom.
So CERTAIN medical drugs can be EXTREMELY addictive, most pain killers and anti-depressants or anti - anxiety to name a few. 
Not most, but many addicts that I've seen their stories on tv seem to usually have been injured and had needed a drug and got addicted that way. Then when doctor says no more, they go to a illegal drug to srop the withdrawal symptoms.

Actually you can get addicted to every and anything. So  you may not get addicted to a certain drug,(like Tylenol) but to drugs (medical or street) in general.

Well obviously some are and others aren't. For example opposed addiction is common but I have never heard of anyone developing an addition to laxatives (not to be confused with abuse of laxatives which is a separate issue).
