what can i do?

gave birth a month ago and got my tubes tied today to find out mother in law overdose this morning and I would like to send her to rehab, DH has a younger sister who now needs our care. I do not mind but I was wondering what can I do? Do we apply for temporary custody? Do we adopt her? Is there any thing the state can help with when caring for her?
