Was I in the wrong? (baby shower)

Ladies I would really love y'alls opinion on this, did I say something wrong? am I expecting too much? I'm due November 6th and was told I would be thrown a baby shower. But no one has even bothered talking or tried to put something together. should i just not expect to be thrown a shower at this point?no one comment on how I'll prepared we are for this baby please. that's not where I'm needing comments.

I would honestly be hurt and offended by this... she has the wrong perspective here. The point of a baby shower isn't so others can buy you all the crap you need for your kid; it's a gathering and celebration of the life of your soon-to-be born child. Most people you invite will want to peek at your registry, so they can contribute to the new needs of your child, since they are family and friends. That's why you invite people you care about and vice versa... maybe tell your friend (or relative, whoever this is) that you were hoping for a shower in light of the celebration of the life of your baby with people closest to you... if you were looking for handouts, you'd be asking for a GofundMe page, which isn't the case. Is there someone less salty who can host this event for you?

I would just tell them to forget it and throw it myself. That is extremely rude to offer to throw you a shower and then get shitty when you ask how the planning is going. She tried to make it sound like you were demanding that they buy you everything when you just needed to know if it was happening or not so you could buy the rest of your baby's stuff. I'd be super pissed. 😒

It seems like you two are talking about two different things...you about there being a shower or not and her about what you need. I'd ask clearly one more time if anyone is on point to throw you a shower (assuming someone has already offered). If you still don't get a straight answer, then I'd not react, and host one for yourself. Babies bring up all sorts of things in friends and family that are unpleasant!

In absolutely no way does she need to know what you already have for your baby! All she literally needs to do is organize a party and you can make yourself your own registry that will or should be stated on the invites. I'd find another friend to help if I were you she seems like a headache

she's being rude... if they said they would have a baby shower then they should be talking to you about dates .... now it seems like they aren't planning anything and just bringing you stuff why does it matter what you have and not have it should be what is listed in your registry .....

She is definitely being a bitch! dont worry about her because obviously she doesnt care and thinks you only want free stuff. Thats not the point of a baby shower. Throw your own or even talk to 1 person who you are really close with to see if they can help you. and DONT invite this girl!

I'm due November 4 and won't have my shower until the last week of sept... that's still 7 weeks away... reading her responses she seems like "not a planner"... maybe it's too far in advance for her to be thinking about  it 🤷🏻‍♀️ I agree with another poster that you seem to be talking about 2 different things.  All in all her answers were for sure snarky.  Maybe a better convo to have in person as text messages can be misinterpreted very easily.

I don't understand why she asked what you already had for your baby that was very irrelevant. Honestly I would plan my own shower and whoever this person is wouldn't even be invited. Or I would not have one and I would be a little sad. But I DEFINITELY would not have anything to do with this person.
