hair removal

Hi! so I'm having the worst trouble. I am trying to get away from shaving and going out and getting waxed. I want to do it my self. ok any ways so I'm using this hard wax but it doesn't tell me how long to keep it on. so I take it off when I think it's dry and it takes out majority of my hair which I was doing my mustache but not all of it so I tried using veet for my mustache but it didn't work at all. What do you guys do and which wax do you guys recommend?
