How did anyone who is HSV2 + can you please tell me your initial symptoms and how you learned you had it?!

I got painful blisters all over my downstairs, and had flu-like symptoms for a few days. I could barely sit down, everything hurt so much. That was 8 years ago, and my outbreaks have gotten much easier. Now I maybe get one or 2 outbreaks a year, which consist of one spot that itches and feels like a sunburn if I itch it.
