Gluten- and Lactose-free Alternatives?
So first, here's a little background. Ever since I can remember, I've always had digestive issues. As a kid, I thought frequent stomach aches were normal just because they were normal for me. Only now, at age 20, am I realizing that having a stomach ache almost every day is far from normal. It's so bad, I've had numerous people question the validity of my illness; I've even had people go so far as to say I'm faking being sick to get out of activities. So I made an appointment with my family practice doctor on Friday (8/18), and she wanted me to try a glucose- and lactose-free diet before I was referred to a gastroenterologist. She thinks I may just have IBS, but worst case scenario it's Crohn's or Celiac disease.
This switch to a gluten- and lactose-free diet isn't me trying to follow a diet fad (ain't nothing wrong with that btw). I seriously need help, as I may have an allergy to gluten and lactose.
I'm asking for suggestions and better alternatives. Preferably foods that aren't gonna break wallet. Drop your fave lactose-free ice cream, milk, cheese, and other dairy products down below, as well as your favorite gluten-free breads, cereals, gravy, marinades, mayonnaise, etcetera etcetera.
