HPV at 22

Steffanie

Two months ago, my pap came back positive for high grade HPV CIN1. I quickly went in for a follow up colpo and got my results back. This time it seems to be low grade CIN1.

So here's my question. She is really pushing for cryo, but I've read online (and she even told me) that people who are younger (like me) and reasonably healthy (also like me) will generally clear an HPV infection on their own. Cryo will essentially have the same results, but more instantaneous (since HPV cannot technically be cured). So I told the doctor I really wanted to wait it out and revisit it in a few months to see what happens.

Did I do the right thing or should I have gotten the cryo? It's not so much that I'm afraid to do it as it is that I don't really see the need to if the HPV will just come back eventually anyway. I'm going to be stuck living with this forever, it just doesn't seem like doing cryo makes sense.
