If your kid damaged someone's car by egging it and the owner had proof of it, what would you do?

Thomas O`Malley • When you feel the last bit of breath leaving their body, you're looking into their eyes. A person in that situation is God! Hunt for the sake of hurting - hurt to understand. When mosquitos bite me, they fly away singing "There is power in the blood!"

Recently a kid in the neighborhood next to mine got caught on security camera footage egging a new BMW. The owner was of course pissed as it's been 100+ degrees every day and the egg set, damaging the paint. The eggs also cracked the glass on the headlights (they believe the eggs may have been frozen before they were thrown).

The owner offered to let the kid clean the car and then have the parents pay for the paint damage and headlights without getting police involved. The parents refused due to the high cost of the damage that would be needed and now they are going to court. The owner is trying to get it charged as a felony due to the cost of the damage and the fact that the kid did it in several other neighborhoods as well. The kid also hid under a woman's car and smashed eggs on her back when she pulled in at 10:30 pm, but the woman is afraid to press charges. The kid is 17.

Say this was your kid. What would you do? Make the kid get a job and pay for the damage, pay it yourself, go to court, let your kid get arrested and learn the hard way, something else?
