To those who use Blue Dye test: useful information

Tj

Last month, I was extremely excited to get a vvvvfffl positive tests! I decided to confirm it with a first response and digitales and got negative after negative. I then went to see my aunt who is an OBGyN and she gave me the following super important and helpful information I wanted to share with you all:

I wasn't pregnant. (Pictures below are my false positive test)....Blue dye tests have a tendency to be harder to read than pink dye for a few reasons. When using any pregnancy test, as the urine is absorbed it will ALWAYS pass through the positive window and with blue dye tests as it passes through the window it can make it appear as though the test is positive until it's dry, even though it's not. That is why it's so important you wait 3-4 minutes after testing before you read your test. Also, holding tests up to light is a common way to get false positives with blue tests. Blue dye is very dark. If you hold your test up to light I will look positive because the sun is hitting the dark dye line. It only counts as a positive if you can lay it flat on a surface and clearly see the positive without holding light behind it. Blue dye often has shadows as well. Her recommendation should you choose to use blue dye tests is to make sure the test always has had 3-4 minutes to dry before you read it and always confirm suspected positives with pink dye tests. I got my false positives because I saw the positive line pop up as the urine ran through the test and started taking picture immediately thinking I was just super pregnant, when in reality all tests do that as first.

I'm sharing not to be condescending, but rather to save some girls from broken hearts when they think they got a positive that's not.
