Birth story! (Long!) Little toots is here!
Hey everyone - I loved reading about everyone's birth stories especially when I was waiting to go into labour. Original due date 21/08/17 born on 18/08/17
I was 39weeks 2 days when I started feeling little niggles here and there and I was so excited. And so so over being pregnant.
Woke up on Wednesday morning with mucus plug and show had also started having contractions (later on I realised what true contractions felt like 😂😂)
Had also had a migraine which sucked so bad - I was not a happy camper. Had my weekly midwife apt that day and it was a matter of waiting and seeing what happened next.
Went for a walk and tried to get contractions going which were stopping and starting. Had a good night sleep until 3am when I was woken up to feeling sick and some pains. I then threw up which kickstarted some intense pains. I was over it at this point so drank some more raspberry tea, pumped a bit and waited for them to pick up. They were 5 mins apart 1 min long and it had been over an hour at this point. So rang the midwife and went in to get checked.
2cm.... 2 freakin cm. this was around 10am. She said it could still be a long time away. Wanted me back when they were 3-5 mins apart, over 1 min long for two hours.
Went home and had a sleep. Which slowed them down to every 30 mins. On the way home I had a whoppppper of a contraction... more of what was to come haha.
Then went for a walk which brought them back with a vengeance. It was so intense. They were back to around the 5 min mark. With some long gaps occasionally. It then got to around 6pm. Bam! 5 mins. Then 4 mins then 3 mins. It had only been an hour but it was happening so quickly. I had called my mum over to be with me too. I was fine in between them but when they happened i couldn't control myself. Suddenly these deep noises were escaping me and my mum was like ok we really needed to go.
I rang my midwife and said it had been two hours (only like 1.5) and she was a bit hesitant but said ok go in. We get there and she can see it's for real this time. Gets all set up - checks me. 3cm.... 3 FUCKING CM AFTER ALL THAT. I was so mad haha.
I had had migraines for days (I suffer from chronic cluster headaches and migraines which were bad right before labor) and so she gave me a shot of pethidine. It took away my headache but not my contractions. Which by the way weren't showing up on the monitor... ah she says your having back labour. It hurt. So bad.
Again I was fine in between (only getting 1 - 2 min breaks in between though) but was laughing and joking with everyone. It then ramped right up and she checked me again - 2 hours later 6cm! The pethidine had relaxed me enough to get labor to progress. They were now sky high on the monitor and after a few bad ones I gave my midwife the - I want the epidural now look.
1am. The epidural was magic - took 2 mins, didn't hurt AT all. And took perfectly. After days and days of pain it finally stopped. Got to relax for a few hours, they gave me some oxytocin to keep the contractions going and then I said hmmm I feel it in my bum... checked me at 4am and was 10cm and ready to go!
Pushed for about an hour but it flew by. I could feel a lot of it and they numbed me down south because they could see everything stretching and knew what was coming haha. I really felt it at one point - heaps of intense burning (ring of fire?) anyway it all escalated quickly and I saw my midwife with the scissors which made me think fuck that!! Gave one almighty push and put came the whole baby hahaha I was so shocked. 2nd degree internal and external tear. But was getting one either way.
He's so perfect! Both doing fantastic! !! Weighed 6lbs7 - always got told he would be huge. Haha but had to go out and buy premmie clothes as he is so little!!! Big feet and long legs tho - both hubby and I are over 6ft.

I love him!
