If you have stayed together for 4 years I would say you are ready. Tho it seems kinda like a teenage thing because you started so early. But you can get engaged, maybe move together see how the life together works and get married when you are sure you can be with the other even when you don't love him, even when he is annoying and leaves the dishes all around the house. Nothing wrong on getting engaged early.

True you've been together 4 years, but you've also just barely gotten out of high school. Some people are ready to go ahead and settle down and make family plans (sounds like you are). But others still feel like there's too much to do at that age to think about marriage and things like that. The best thing to do is sit down and talk about what goals the two of you have for the future -short term & long term.
