When should your S/O "Pop the question"?

I've seen so many beautiful engagements and weddings here this summer. Through reading post and comment, the question I have come to have is when do you think a man should "Pop the question" "Buy the cow" "take the punge" "Put a ring on it" whatever you may call it.

And I'm curious to your reasons why!

When the couples in a good place? I've seen couples married after 1 month last longer than couples married after 6 years of dating 🤷🏼‍♀️.
When the couple is ready is when a marriage works best imo

I don't know if it's really a timeline. More like when the relationship is in a good place and both people are ready.🤷🏻‍♀️

When he is ready. And when the couple is in a pretty good place. I really wanted my boyfriend to propose and he was ready and had purchased my ring. But he said he wanted to make sure I would be happy. We were living in California at that time and I hated it there. I wanted to move back to the east coast. So once we moved to our home in Pennsylvania, he knew it was the right time. It was perfect for us and I'm glad at least he has self control lol because we're actually able to enjoy our engagement. We have been engaged for only two months but together for four and a half years.

My husband asked me after 5 years. This December it will be 3 years of marriage and 9 years of being together in all. We also have a 11 month old daughter. I'm not one for sappiness but he truly is my happy ever after.
Every couple is different... I've known people who haven't dated long but got married and still are together; on the other hand I've also known people who've been together for a long time-- got married and then divorced. For example, my friends are divorced only after a year of marriage and when they had decided to divorce they just hit 10 years together but I have another friend who married his wife after going out for a year or less, it's now been at least 5 years and they had a kid together.
Another friend of ours were engaged and he popped the question after 8 years but they're now no longer together and the engagement is off.
The length of time with your SO should not determine when you should be engaged. Couples need to be ready and on the same page.
