My partner recently opened up to me that he REALLY wants to marry me (getting engaged) however he is a fairly traditional man, we recently got our own house so cash is short at the moment; he's really upset cause he can't afford a ring to propose......

anyone ever been in a situation like this? I've tried to reassure him it's not about a ring, it's the gesture, it's the actual getting married etc, but he still believes he needs to put a ring on it for it to be official.
