Advice needed: Anxious feelings

I'm a full time university student, a part time employee and also do voluntary work so I'm pretty busy. For the past few months I've been feeling anxious, upset and teary, the littlest thing can set me off. I've asked for counselling and I'm on the waiting list at my local doctors, but the only person I can really talk to right now is my partner. Although, it's nice to talk about your relationship now and again with someone who isn't your partner. 😂 I have 3 really close friends but I feel whenever they need help I'm there, when I do they're not. Also atm, I feel so insecure of my body. Is there any technique to calm down and keep your mind off things, just until I can attend counselling?
