Nausea

i just started the pill last week. my doctor didnt tell me many side effects other than weight gain and spotting. but ever since ive started, ive had pretty bad waves of nausea. like ill wake up and be fine and then in two hours ill suddenly be super nauseated but then it will go away in like 30 minutes and come back in another hour. its just really random. is this normal when you are starting the pill? or is this like a side effect and should tell my doctor about it?
