First week: Visitors or none???

Question

I really don't want any overnight visitors (we live in a 1 bedroom) the first week that the baby is born. I think it will be an important time for the 3 of us to bond and step into our roles as parents. 
My mom really wants to come, she lives across the country, and wants to be part of everything including the birth process. I've put my foot down and told her to come after a week, but I can tell it makes her sad. 
Some people say the first week is the hardest and my husband and I will be really grateful to have someone helping right away. 
Am I being unreasonable and really will need the help asap even though my husband will be there full time that first week?

Maybe she can get a hotel room near you and be near you but not smother you?? If it really bothers you I would stick to the plan and let her wait a week. This is your big moment!

its not as hard as people make it out to be. follow your gut. how you feel matters honestly she will get in the way of you and hubs getting a routine down.

When I had my son I let very few people visit us in the hospital and had no visitors for the first 2 weeks I believe (except for my elderly grandmothers since this was their first great grand child and you never know how long you'll have with them) and I regret nothing about it and I'll be doing the same with Baby 2 when he or she is born in march

I wouldn't stop her from coming but just put her in a hotel. 
Nothing personal against your husband, but you don't know how much help he will really be. You know that your mom will help though.

When I had my lg we had visitors at the hospital and the first day we arrived home but after that we asked to be left for week so we could all bond and let it sink in.

I have the same dilemma, my mum wants to come visit but she wants to stay for a whole week as soon as I've had my baby "to help out" and when I told her no, not until my husband has gone back to work after 2 weeks she said she'll just ignore me and come anyway. It's an argument I'm going to have to address as I get closer to my due date but I'm going to have to put my foot down with her. We don't mind her coming to visit for a day or two but not a whole week and not as soon as I've given birth.

If I could go back to when we first came home I wouldn't want to have visitors over for at least the first couple of days. So much is happening not only with managing the baby, but emotionally as well. My hormones took a gigantic drop and seeing anyone hold him besides me made me cry to get him back. I would say enjoy the first couple of days at least just you guys together.
