Help!

My ex, and the father of my child, killed himself yesterday. We weren't on very good terms so my current SO says that he doesn't think I should go the funeral? I know that his family blames me for it, so should I just stay away and give his family time to grieve and also placate my partner? Or should I go and pay my respects? I am so torn as to what to do.
