Would this Halloween costume be racist (Maui from Moana)?

It's my son's first Halloween this year and I wanted to dress him as Maui from the movie Moana. He's half black and white so I thought it would be adorable. When I looked for a costume online I saw some complaints about it being racist to islanders. Do you think it's racist?

My opinion no. For those of them who's mind gravitate towards automatically jumping the racism card they are the ones with the issues. The fact that they kids see no difference in he person and love them so mean the exact opposite lol so annoying.

there's a difference of doing something like black face or dressing up to make fun of someone else. but a child's costume is worn for fun because they like the character or this case because you do. It's not racist at all. ignore the people who tell you it is there's always people to stir the pot

No. It's from a movie. As long as you don't change his skin tone like putting on face paint or makeup (i.e blackface). Then you're good
