Here I am 8 months pregnant, and the conversation of spankins just came up. I don't know how it was never discussed before, but apparently he's all for it. He says " if a kid does something they need to be disciplined to learn, not abuse them but spank them when necessary". I can't say I completely disagree, but I do disagree because I believe there is always another way to teach or discipline a child rather than spanking them. I asked my SO " ok so what would be a justified reason for a kid to deserve a spankin" because another point I have is I don't see how a child could even do something justifiable of a spankin. His response was " ok what if you find your kid playing with a lighter, you gotta spank them so they know to never touch it again so the house doesn't get burned down" my response to that is " um are you fucking serious? For one DON'T leave your lighter in reach of your child? That's the obvious, but two you tell them in detail how it's dangerous and to never touch them" well anyways now we're in a full on argument over this and it's got my head going in a million different directions. Like how am I gonna raise a child with someone who can't agree with me on how to do it. Or even come to a compromise, like I just feel like if you can't both come to an agreement on something that's serious, then leave it alone. His idea of a compromise is you discipline how you want to and so will I. So I want to know you ladies opinions on if it's ok or not, and also your advise on how I should handle things with my SO.
