Trying to get pregnant after the depo shot!!!!

So I am at the end of my depo shot and due to get another in a week. My boyfriend and I have discussed for a long time having a child and we are now at the stage where we are emotionally and financially ready. However I have concerns about how difficult or easy it may be after having the depo shot. I've only had 1. Is it going to make it more difficult to conceive? Doctor says it will be in my system for up to a year and conception might not be possible during that time. Does anyone have any experience with this?
