Should I evacuate Florida?

I'm freaking out about this storm!! I'm pregnant and I have a 8 month old baby, we live on the 2nd story. I'm so scared after seeing what happened in Texas and people are saying this storm is going to be worse... it looks like it's heading right for Florida...

Weather can change in an instant (I'm a trained meteorologist for the navy). The focast changes so many times a day. If it's about 2 days out and its still forcast to hit, Then evacuate if your area is going to be in the upper right quadrant (dirty side of the storm). I understand though if you just want to be safe and leave.. there is nothing wrong with that. I live in Houston. It's horrible what happened here. So my best advice is..... if it gets to be about 2 days out and it's looking like it's going to sill hitnin your area..... be safe and just evacuate. It's not only the wind you have to worry about. Flooding is bad as well and even though your in the second story.... that doesn't mean anything. Keep you and your family safe!! Good luck!! Stay safe!

My friend is leaving with her family Thursday night so the highway isn't gridlocked. If you have the means I would also plan on evacuating and taking a "mini vacation" somewhere, if the storm misses then at least you had some family time.

We evacuated Houston when they were telling people to stay and the day after we evacuated is when Harvey hit hard. I'm 25 weeks and I don't think I could have spent the week without ac power and the limited groceries we had. But it just depends on where your at.

Your governor declared a state of emergency, i'd keep that in mind and just be extra cautious since you are pregnant. I'm in the carolinas and we're looking at either a direct 2nd hit or it coming up florida. We dont get mandated evacs unless we are expecting a cat 3- i dont live in a flood zone and we got no damage from matthew, but Being due in 5 days, i plan on leaving if its any worse than a cat 2 just to ensure i'd be able to get to a hospital.

I think that really depends on what you want to do and your gadge of safety. I live in Homestead, Fl so we always get it pretty bad here, and we aren't leaving unless otherwise stated. My family's home survived Andrew, Katrina, and Wilma. So we just stocked up on supplies and put up our shutters.
