First long distance relationship help!!

Hey everyone✌🏾 So I had met my boyfriend on social media (he has proven to be who he says he is). We've known each other for almost a year and a half. He lives in England, I live in Virginia US. But now he only wants to communicate on SC. I've tried getting him to think about downloading WhatsApp so we can text and call each other since my phone plan doesn't allow international calls but he complained about not wanting to download any more apps on his phone. What do y'all think? Any advice would be great.
