Any beekeepers?

Debating pursuing beekeeping as an eventual hobby/ income. Anyone here have any info or advice?

My husband and I currently keep bees. We currently have 6 hives. A couple things to note about it: 
It is an expensive hobby to get into 
They require more work then most people anticipate (we check ours weekly)
It is very unlikely you will have any income your first year from honey unless you purchase hives that are already established (if you take honey from a newer hive you will either have to feed during winter or lose your hive, if you have colder winters)
Disease and mites is an issue that you need to make yourself aware of beforehand (especially if purchasing an established hive). If you start your own from scratch you can buy mite resistant queens.
If you have done the research and have the time to take them on, they are incredible creatures that can provide some of the most delicious honey (nothing like your own fresh honey). Hope this helps. Best of luck
