Trypophobia...?

Question

How is this even a phobia? I just don't get what makes a cluster of holes scary or disturbing to the point it freaks people out.
I'm bringing this up, because I watched the first episode of AHS last night and I felt it was HORRIBLE because of how stupid everything was in the show.
I'm in no ways trying to tell someone it isn't a real fear, but I'm just curious how?

Mostly because it's not your phobia. I have a few phobias that others don't, so obviously they don't 'get it'. Have you looked up images of trypophobia? 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢

I had no idea this was a thing until this past year. Apparently it's a real problem for a lot of people. I'm the opposite though, I find the trypophobia pictures super fascinating. So now I've been looking at all these coral pictures 😂 I actually really liked AHS last night. I didn't think I was going to, but I thought it was hilarious.

A phobia is generally an IRRATIONAL fear or discomfort or something. It's not supposed to be something you understand unless there is a rational fear. Rational fear would be a phobia of drowning, if you almost drown as a kid then you have a valid reason to be afraid. But things like clusters of holes, clowns, bugs and germs (and many more) tend to be irrational. I am not afraid of a cluster of holes, but they make me uncomfortable. I can't explain why, I just really don't like it. I hate close up photos of bones, empty pomegranates, and bee hives.
