What to expect from first doctor visit pregnant?

Hi! I'm currently 11 weeks 1 day pregnant. I will have my first appointment in the next week. ...What can I expect from the first doctors visit? I hate going to the doctor whenever I have checkups. I hate having my blood pressure taken & all things needle involved. ...I get really bad anxiety thinking about getting my blood taken, but I know sooner or later it'll need to be done. Am I able to let my doctor know (in advance) & request to not have any blood drawn (if it's needed) until the next visit? I need time to prepare myself & allow my anxiety to not be so bad. & being aware of knowing the date I'll need it done helps my anxiety & help me "prepare." I don't like sudden surprises when it comes to needle work. 😅 I know with everything I'll go through in labor & overall pregnancy blood drawn "pain" will seem so little compared.

Girl you will be pricked more during these next 9 months than you probably have your entire life. I used to be terrified of giving blood, but now on my second baby I can honestly say the anxiety has reduced significantly. At my first appt with baby #1 I had blood drawn, #2 (different doc) I didn't. So just prepare yourself for the possibility, or call them and ask.

They will check your weight, blood pressure, and have you pee for them. Also they will do a Pap smear to see if you have anything going on down there. Ask you questions. They will feel your breast. The doctor won't do blood there most likely they will give you paperwork to a lapcorp or quest place to get your blood drawn. It isn't really that bad but if your scared now you need your blood drawn multiple times throughout your pregnancy. Don't be scared everything will be ok an don't get too worked up because having high blood pressure isn't good for you and your baby. Just think you are getting it done to make sure everything is ok for you and your child.

You've all given my "needle-doctor" anxiety a little peace of mind knowing what to expect & the chances of what will happen my first visit. I won't ask exactly what's involved in a Pap smear like some of you stated. I have a little knowledge what is done & that it hurts. I'd like to be a little oblivious about that part tho. 😝

My first appointment I did a bunch of paperwork and then they took a urine sample, set me up with a bloodwork paperwork so i could go in and get it drawn, took my vitals and asked about family history. Once I actually saw the dr he felt around to check all my lady parts and pelvis, told me what to eat/not eat, they swabbed me to double check for STDs and then I got an ultrasound

Prepare yourself because your Dr will order bloodwork depends on the Dr wether you get it done same day or not.  They also take your blood pressure get a urine sample talk to you about your pregnancy and hopefully you get to have an ultrasound to see baby for the first time !

Since my first appointment they always draw blood from me and do an urine test. So be prepared for that. As well they did an ultrasound to see the baby. From there the doctor will ask you if you have any questions or concerns
