How old was your baby when they could get into a seated postion by themselves?

My son could sit up by himself if you sat him up from 5 months, but he didn't figure out how to get into a sitting position on his own until he started crawling at 7.5 months.

my son is 9 mo ths and doesn't do it, he can sit very well crawl ( commando style) pull to stand and cruise. so i dont mind!

My daughters 3 months and is pretty close to it. She literally can't stand laying down. I think it bores her lol She really wants to be in a seated position at all times so that's what we've been doing since she was probably 9 weeks old or so. Currently she holds our finger when she sits but it's not a very tight grip at all. It seems to be more of a guide for her. We really think she'll be sitting by herself once she's 4/4.5 months old.

My first son did everything early. My second is 7 months not crawling or getting himself into a seated position. He can sit by himself just fine he just won't/can't get into the position himself. They're both very different, my second son is spoiled. He knows his big brother will come to him.
