I'm in a relationship with a guy I've known 10 years and have been together almost 4 months.

Today he told me he loves me ....

I'm a little taken aback to be honest. Is it too soon? Is it really love? How do I know he really loves me. I'm a little out of touch with the whole relationship thing as I haven't dated anyone in about 4 years after leaving my sons abusive dad.

I know it's probably silly but I just didn't know what to say back or if I should have taken it seriously
