Still falling for my ex ugh

A few months ago, my ex broke up with me after about three months of being together, which I know isn't very long but I've had a thing for him for four years. He stopped talking to me for a while and last week I got back in touch with him because of school. He's very clear that he wants to be just friends and nothing more but I can't help but think about how great he is and how nice he looks. I would really love to get back together with him, since he was the only person I think I can safely say I loved wholeheartedly in a relationship. Any advice on what I should do to get over him?
