Does abusive relationships get better over time ?

Does anyone have success stories ...

my partner has all the abusibe traits controlling has isolates me gaslights etc but he has yet to physically abuse me though he threatens to slap me but hasn't.

I don't even know when it turned abusive untill my bestfriend who's a psychologist told me to read into it. Here I was thinking "HE LOVES ME and is ALL ABOUT ME"
