Childbirth classes?

Question

What are your thoughts on taking childbirth classes? Necessary? Could videos and reading online be enough? If I take them I'd really want my husband to be there, but his work schedule fluctuates between days, mids, and swings so I don't know if he'd actually be able to attend any classes!

I talked to my doctor about this when i was pregnant. She said with everything availible online nowadays its not really necessary. You could find stuff on youtube and google and it would be more convenient. But truth is, you can do all the research and classes you want, but that will most likely all go out the door when you are actually in labor

I did not take them. I didn't read anything for my first two I vaginally delivered them both with epidurals. With my third I decided early on I wanted to try natural with him and I didn't take classes I just read people's birth stories and testimonies. I felt like it really did help because you got insight on what it was like. And to be honestly a lot that I read from people is exactly how it felt and went. I did deliver him naturally and it really was the best decision I ever made. But all my deliveries were good. They didn't use to have classes back in the day was kinda my thinking on it 😐

I loved my in person hypnobirthing class. We practiced different labor positions and did relaxation practice. Plus it was cool meeting other mommies-to-be.
