When does pediatrician comes into picture?

My ped comes to the hospital after the baby is born and then visits start when baby is 2 days old.

The hospital will have one on staff for right after birth. But you should definitely have one picked out already by the time baby is born. My hospital didn't want me to leave without one and an appointment made already.

It honestly depends on the hospital you are at. One clinic I looked at when I was first pregnant made you find your own pediatrician before you had your baby. The hospital I am going to right now has a pediatrician on staff that is always there and then they give you a list of pediatricians to choose from and you have to set up an appointment before you leave. So definitely call the hospital you will be giving birth at and see what their policy is when it comes to that.
