when to start birth control

I am getting married in two months. My period started yesterday and I started back on birth control pills that day. I read that it's best to start two months in advance to guarantee protection. I started my pills when my period started because I want my cycle to stay the same (I intentionally planned my wedding between cycles) Wondering if starting the pill is going to screw up my cycle? 😬
