lip tie?

was wondering if my 3 month old has a lip tie. I know we all have some sort of line connecting our lips. but I'm wondering if this is why I'm having trouble feeding him from the breast.

I am by no means a professional, but this looks like my LO's lip tie. We had hers released really early by an ENT doctor. She had a tongue tie as well. From what I understand a lot of professionals don't consider it "bad enough" to release. But for us it made a world of difference. LO went from being exhausted after feeding for an hour and needing to eat again shortly after to finishing a feed in 15-30 mins! And my nipple deformation/pain went away quickly afterwards. Try searching Facebook for tongue and lip tie groups near where you live and see if anyone could give you advice on if they think it's a lip tie or which professionals in your area would be willing to see you to evaluate and or  release it.

My 9month is just like this, and I asked her Dr what she thought about it. Right now with her being so young, an orthodontist would not doing anything with it. If you are breastfeeding and your baby isn't latching, that could be the problem but again most orthodontists will not touch a baby less than a year old unfortunately. Her Dr said that it should go back up when her teeth come in or it could be that she had a gap between her teeth. Once she's old enough we can get it cut but not this young. It sucks and it scares me but something we have to deal with right now.

it looks a lot like my oldest sons lip tie. we had it cut when he was 5 months and it helped with breastfeeding and tummy issues! It's better to get it done before 6 months because my doctor told me after they are 6 months they will put them under to do it, where my son just had numbing medicine injected and then clipped.

My daughters looks like this... her pedi said it was and gave us a list of preferred doctors to get it cut off...my husband doesn’t want to... have you spoken to a doctor yet and/or decided to cut it?

My son had a lip and tongue tie and had to get it clipped, he would not breast feed like I wanted so we used a bottle and we took him to see the doctor because he wasn't eating enough and they eventually cut it, I'd ask a doctor if your concerned, it does look like one though
