Potty Training

Hi guys! So I have a 3 month old yorkie and no matter what I do, she isn't grasping the purpose of the puppy pad. For example, she has a kennel, with the pad in it that I just bought. She was sleeping in my bed, but she would jump off in the middle of the night and pee and poop on my carpet( my whole house is carpet). So she was in the kennel all night with the pad, and as soon as I unzipped it, she ran out and pooped on my floor. I do take her outside, but we've had some really bad weather recently. Plus, I'm a student and I'm not here to take her outside all day. I leave her in the bathroom with about three pads, and she pees and poops around the pads, never on them. I know smaller dogs are harder to train, but this is irritating. Any ideas on how I can get her trained?
