Breastfeeding vs Formula?

breastfeeding vs Formula?" /> 
I know it's a personal choice, but my husband and I are currently disagreeing. It's still very early so I'm sure this debate will continue, but I'm looking for personal stories to help make a decision. 
Which did you decide and why?

I'm breastfeeding my first. I believe fed is best, if you can't keep up supply there's no shame in formula feeding. I chose to BF because of the antibodies it's proven to sustain for the child, the nutrients are proven to be better than formula, and formula is SO EXPENSIVE. I calculated how much we would spend on formula based on how much my LO was eating at 2 months and it was $260 a month just for the basic cans. And that's not special formulas for sensitive tummies or anything. And they eat more as they get older. Solid foods before 1 are not for nutrition, only for fun and practice, so you would be spending several hundred dollars on formula a month if you chose to formula feed from the get go. If you can breastfeed, you absolutely should!

I don't care how anyone feeds their baby.  There are many reasons a baby may be formula feed.  I'm bf.  It was so much harder than o thought it would be. 11 weeks in and there are days I hate it and others that I live the time with my lo. Do what makes you and baby happy

I have breastfed all 3 of my children and plan to breastfeed the next. For me, I choose breastfeeding because I am able to do so, it's cost effective, and I have a great support system. It came very naturally for me. A good friend of mine was never able to breastfeed her child for many reasons that aren't really my place to discuss. We both have happy, healthy babies. Bottom line is fed is best.

I would have done anything to breastfeed. To me breast feeding was the hardest thing I had to do and I ended up crying for days because I couldn't. So if you are able and want to, breastfeed. It's really up to you, but if you want to and your husband doesn't then he needs to suck it up

I'm planning to try to breastfeed, but I will be honest, the thought of it freaks me out. It sounds so painful! If I end up really struggling, I'm hoping I can pump and then bottle feed. Formula will be my last resort. Pumping to bottle feed is appealing to me because it will allow my hubby to help feed baby, especially during those first few late nights! And, it gives him some bonding time. I'm a firm believer in at least trying the breastfeeding route, science has shown too many benefits to breast milk for me not to. Plus...it's a serious calorie burner and who doesn't want the baby weight gone?? If I can't breastfeed or pump, I won't beat myself up over it. A fed baby is a happy baby, and in the end, that is the most important thing.

You should always TRY to breastfeed first as that's the healthiest, best thing for your baby, and it has tons of benefits for mama too. I breastfed my daughter for 14 months. The emotional bond it creates is indescribable and some of my best memories. The initial months were HARD, but worth it.

I wanted to breastfeed so bad, but she wouldn't latch and would just either cry or fall asleep out of frustration so I pumped for awhile but, after she hit a growth spurt I couldn't keep up with my supply and I tried everything to increase it and nothing worked so I eventually switched over to formula. I cried because it's not what I wanted to do but I had too.
